  "Open Sesame"

more info about Open Sesame.....           (click here to return to Open Sesame main page)

1.        Automated doors are best operated with a switch on a powered wheelchair.  This is the most reliable method and gives you the ability to enter from outside as well as exiting.  The most commonly used switch is identical to a typical garage door opener.  If you cannot depress a garage door opener switch you need to order the switch adapted door opener with an appropriate switch.

2.        The door should not bind or stick.  Openers will sense resistance (e.g.  someone’s limb stuck in the door) and it will shut down as a failsafe.  Doors that bind or stick will exert torque at the top of the door.  The door should open and close with little effort.

3.        Open Sesame is battery operated so power failures should not affect its ability to open the door.  The unit is constantly tickle-charged so it is nearly always fully charged.

4.        Usually installation in wooden door jams is easier than in metal door jams.

5.        You need to consider what type of locking method is best for you.  Some must leave the door closed but in an unlocked condition for emergency reasons.  Some want the door locked and unlocked each time it is opened and closed.  Normally, the door strike opens automatically during the door opening sequence.  The door can be locked or unlocked in this case.  The deadbolt must be unlocked.  To use the deadbolt it must be replaced with an automated deadbolt and you need a dual switch – one to unlock the deadbolt and the second to activate the door opener.   You need to depress two switches (both are on the same switch control).

6.        Open Sesame has a built-in feature to allow the door to stay open if you activate the open/close command while the door is in motion.  It does not close with a spring as most door openers do, but under your control.  You can leave the door open in any position indefinitely.

7.        Open Sesame will operate left-handed or right-handed hinged doors as well as outward opening and inward opening doors.

8.        Open Sesame does have the option to be controlled by your ECU unit such as Cintex voice activation or Sicare voice activation.  Voice activation is not included in the price.  Open Sesame can be controlled from switch activated ECU systems.  If you need ECU control, order the ECU option.

9.        Open Sesame requires a standard 120-volt AC house outlet near the door for Open Sesame’s AC/DC power adapter.  The adapter is roughly 3”x 2”.
